When you start your vaping journey, the first thing to decide is what kind of vaping device to buy. There are lots of different vaping devices and we’ll explain here what kind of devices there are to choose.

Cigalike

Firstly, let’s talk about the disposable cigalike (short for cigarette-like) type of e-cig. This is an e-cigarette recommended for beginners as they are a great way to start your vaping journey. Furthermore, there are inexpensive to begin with and very easy to use.

However, they offer just a very basic performance and thus, it’s not recommended as a long-term vaping solution.

A typical cigalike

Finally, to charge this type of vaping device, you will need to unscrew the pod (the white part).

Closed Pod System

This is a compact kind of e-cigarette that offers a more modern and advanced performance compared with cigarette like vaping devices.

These two kinds of vaping devices consist of two main parts: a rechargeable battery and a disposable pod filled with e-juice.

In addition, they usually have a small LED light to indicate when the device is in use or simply when you are inhaling. Generally, they change color when the battery starts to get low.

Finally, both closed pod system vaping devices use a USB port at the base.

These two devices are widely available and easy to use. In addition, they are very portable, which makes them great devices for vaping newbies.

However, they don’t produce big vaping clouds and the battery life is pretty limited.

Refillable tank kits

These kits are much bigger than cigalikes and closed pod systems. Furthermore, they have a big advantage compared with the previous two types: a refillable clearomizer tank.

However, refillable tank kits don’t come with e-juices incorporated, which means that you will need to buy some to use it with your kit. Consequently, you will need to fill your tank with e-liquid.

Obviously, with these larger devices, you will need a larger battery capacity (lasts for about 5 times more than cig-a-like types).

The level of the e-juice will drop when you vaporize it. Nonetheless, they normally have a line indicating the minimum fill.

Are refillable tanks more complicated to use?

It might be more difficult than cig-a-like and closed pod systems, but it gets much easier over time and it’s more convenient. For example, if you are a heavy vaper, you won’t need to carry many disposable pods or batteries. In addition, you are saving money over time as these clearomizers tanks are refillable.

Disposable vs refillable

In addition, there are two types of refillable tanks: disposable and refillable. In short, there are disposable & refillable tanks and refillable tanks with a disposable coil.

The disposable style kits, over time and with use, the vaporization will reduce the effectiveness of the coil and the wicking material. As a result, you will notice decrease in cloud production and a reduced quality of the flavor.

Therefore, we recommend that you replace the entire tank every 1-2 weeks (depending on the e-juice and how much you vape).  On the other hand, if you prefer the option of a not disposable refillable tank, then we recommend you a tank with replaceable coils instead. That it to say, every 1-2 weeks (again, it depends on how much you use your vaping device) you replace the entire coil for a new one.

Are non-disposable tanks better?

Non-disposable tanks are generally made of better-quality materials as they are designed to last for a longer period. Moreover, they generally have more features such as child lock and they normally have and adjustable airflow. In other words, you can adjust the airflow to have a tighter draw or airier one.

Many choices with pro and cons

To sum up, as you can see there are multiple options available all of which have their own pros and cons:

Cigalike and closed pod systems

Cigalike and closed pod systems: inexpensive, easy to use, handy. However, the battery capacity and vapor production are limited. On the other hand, the convenience of a disposable pod removes any inconvenience to refill your e-juice or replace the heating elements.

Furthermore, due to its simplicity (they don’t have any buttons) are way easier to use.  For instance, most of devices require what is known as 5 quick clicks to turn them on or off. This could be annoying for inexperience users. So, if you prefer simple devices, cigalikes or closed pod systems are your choice.

Vaping kits with replaceable coils

If you are looking for better performance and more vapor production, then you should go for vaping kits with replaceable coils. However, you will need to buy e-juices and refill the tank plus replace the coils every one or two weeks depending on how much you vape.

In conclusion, you need put in a bit more of work, but you will also save more money in the future. In addition, you have many more options with vaping kits with replaceable coils.

If you are smoker, you want to find a device to replace your cigarette breaks. You will find it a bit difficult to begin with, therefore, a simple device might be right for you. On the other hand, if you are considering vaping regularly, we strongly recommend you go for a more powerful and sophisticated vaping device.
